Each student will bring home a slip to record minutes of reading at home and physical activity in the evening. The purpose of the slip is to record the time students spend daily creating healthy habits that ensure wellness and learning.

This is a school wide initiative for Kindergarten-5th grade.

Students that have a scheduled time to read each night at home for 15-20 minutes are more likely to be proficient readers that can comprehend text they read. Each year, as part of the Derby Public Schools wellness policy, students keep track of physical activity time at home as part of the Derby Walks Program. Wineteer has been the top earning school with minutes recorded at home and on our walk path each day.
